Install

LinkGuard is a browser extension for desktop browsers. Install it from the store that matches your browser.

It is not in the stores yet. Once released, you can install it as described below.

Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc

  1. Open the LinkGuard page in the Chrome Web Store.
  2. Select "Add to Chrome". The browser lists the permissions it asks for. Read them, then approve.
  3. Open the extensions menu (puzzle piece icon) in the toolbar and pin LinkGuard.

Edge asks once whether to allow extensions from other stores. Brave and Arc install it the same way as Chrome.

Firefox

Firefox uses a different extension format, so you get a separate build from AMO. The Chrome file is not compatible.

  1. Open the LinkGuard page on AMO.
  2. Select "Add to Firefox", read the permission notice, and confirm.

Safari

The Safari version is coming later. It is not available in a store yet.

Developers who build it themselves need Xcode and must convert the web extension into a Safari app project.

xcrun safari-web-extension-converter ./extension

Mobile

Mobile is not supported.

After installing

Select the LinkGuard icon in the toolbar to open the popup. It shows how many links were marked and how many were checked on the current page.
